WordPress Plugin: List_Pages CSS Dropdown Menu
Well my first attempt at a plugin (well actually right now it is more of a hack, I still need to look into how to integrate it as a plugin…) for WordPress 1.5 is starting to come along as you can see at the top of this page with the new menu. The menu is the result of calling WordPress’ list_pages() plugin and then styling the result with CSS, my aim is to make it as easy to integrate as possible hopefully through the plugin architecture.
I used quite a lot of sites for inspiration on the CSS Dropdown menu but I think my main source was Suckerfish Dropdowns.
If anyone is interested in this drop me a note and I can share the code so far and let you know once I have something releasable.
UPDATE: Have switched to a different style for generating the menu that is much more Internet Explorer friendly by using a .htc file to add the desired effect so HOVER will work on the list items, most of the code was blatantly ripped from this excellent Tutorial.
Using this method though has at least temporarily required me to change a function in template-functions-post.php that I don’t currently know how to work around but I will work on that as I’d like this to be able to become a plugin.
What’s with all the computer mumbo-jumbo? Computer stuff is like reading blah blah in german. Which I guess would come out at blghhh blghhh since germans don’t seem to be fond of vowels or any word that does not produce projectile spit. You mentioned you have a cute girlfriend… maybe you can talk about her more, she sounds like a fabulous person
I really like CSS dropdown menu, when will you release this plugin or share the hack?
Thanks
Rocky
i’ve been trying to make a drop down menu, itd be a big help if you sent me the code for this!
Agreed! Been manually creating menu’s, would certainly like the code / hack… as my attempts for dynamic control haven’t worked.
Thanks!
Sorry folks been a little distracted lately and haven’t touched the Wordpress code at all, I should get time to upgrade to the latest release soon and clarify the changes that need to be made to enable a menu like the one I’ve setup.
Unfortunately though I don’t think it will be able to be a plugin as such and will involve a small amount of code changes.
[...] You can check it out and if you’re interested then just drop me a note and help motivate me to get back to work on it. March 23, 2005 @ 3:40 pm [...]
Say, do you have the code/hacks and css worked out? I am looking all over the place for this and would love to actually see it
Thanks for your efforts.
